Professional Learning for Paraeducators and Teachers Together
To ensure student success, it is critical that teachers and paraeducators understand their roles and responsibilities, work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and respect one another in the process.
That’s why NEA offers Building Winning Teams: Effective Paraeducator-Teacher Teams (BWT), a series of trainings designed for teams to engage in together. BWT includes up to 8 customizable, in-person sessions offered by an NEA state or local affiliate, usually in partnership with a local school or district.
Session topics include:
- Components of collaborative teams
- Establishing a shared vision
- Roles and responsibilities
- Effective communication
- Professional relationships
- Problem solving
- Conflict resolution
- Professionalism and ethics
To support the implementation of Building Winning Teams trainings, NEA provides extensive resources for facilitators and participants, as well as ongoing technical assistance to affiliates engaging in the program.
